Ex-Celt Paul to head up Oscar 'team'

The Kildare & District Football has broken with tradition by appointing coaches from outside the League.

The inter league side will be coached and managed by former Glascow Celtic player Paul Byrne. Byrne, who is head coach with Premier Skills Ireland, he will be assisted by ex Coventry City and League of Ireland player Karl Wilson.

A back up team consisting of League officers Tom Stanley, Jim Percival and Regina Casey has been appointed to take charge of the league's involvement in this season's competition.

"We have performed quiet well in the Oscar Traynor through the years, without ever making the breakthrough" said league secretary Regina Casey.

Hopefully these appointments will give the effort additional impetus allowing us to make a serious effort this season" she continued.

Meanwhile an announcement regarding the management team for the League's under eighteen interleague team will be made on Monday next.

Interleague action for Over 35's: Discussions are at an advanced stage in the setting up of an Inter League competition for our over 35's players.

Following recent discussions with the Combined Counties FL, the Sligo League and the Roscommon League it has been agreed in principle to arrange a "Masters Tournament" involving the four Leagues.

Full details will be ironed out over the coming weeks and a management team will be appointed. Clubs involved in the division will be contacted with arrangements as soon as details are finalised.

Trophies to be Returned

All trophies were due to be returned to the League three weeks ago. A number of clubs have not complied and regrettably fines will now be levied on the clubs involved. The fines will continue on a weekly basis until the trophies are returned to the League. All outstanding trophies MUST be returned without further delay.
