Stokes, O'Connor fire up Park to sink Beechwood

AN EXCELLENT away win last weekend saw Park Celtic bag the points with a 2-1 win over Beechwood in the Under 15 Division 1 section.

Lying in a mid-table position is was important for the Celts to start putting points on the board if they have any designs of gaining promotion.

After a 0-0 first half the visitors finally got on the score board when Emmet Stokes blasted home a free kick.

Minutes later the home side drew level but the Celts dug deep and with ten minutes remaining they netted what proved to be the winner when Robbie O'Connor slotted home.

Mitchell goal proves in vain for Broadford

BROADFORD failed in their attempt to close the gap on league leaders Blessington, in the Under 16 Division 1 section, last weekend when they travelled to the Community College and went down narrowly on a 2-1 scoreline.

With the sides going in level at the break, it was the home side who broke the deadlock early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead, and that was quickly followed by a second.

After that double setback Rovers began to gain the upper hand and Ben Mitchell netted a deserved goal to close the gap, but, no matter how hard they tried, they just could not find an equaliser and now trail Blessington by four points.

Six-goal haul has Hynes drawing the plaudits

KEVIN HYNES had the kind of day the all strikers dream about when he took to the field for Valeview Shankill in their Under 11 Division 2 clash with Parkvale last weekend.

In this top of the table encounter, where both had won all their eight games, Hynes netted a double hat-trick in their 6-2 win on the day.

It gives them a three point lead over their rivals for the title and if Hynes can net six against title contenders then defences from the chasing pack better beware.

Lakelands stun Rangers

LAKELANDS FC did Park Celtic a huge favour in the Under 13 Division 1 section last weekend when they travelled to league leaders Rangers AFC and recorded a 4-0 away win.

This was a real shock to the system for the Gers as they were unbeaten in this division and had not dropped a point all season.

However it opened the door for Celtic as they won 3-0 against Valeview and are now just three points behind Rangers with a game in hand. It all makes for an exciting end to the season in this division.
