THE Republic of Ireland will have to face Germany again, this time in the qualifiers for the U21 European Championships, following today's draw at UEFA HQ in Switzerland, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.
Noel King's side were placed in the same group as Germany, Romania, Montenegro, and the Faroe Islands, a tricky draw for King.
The qualifiers begin in March of this year to determine the teams which will compete in the U21 Euro finals, held in the Czech Republic in June 2015. The ten group winners, and the four best runners-up, will enter a playoff and seven teams will go on to the finals along with the hosts.
Ireland have never qualified for the U21 finals but they did come up with some good results in the most recent qualifying campaign, finishing off the group with a stunning 4-2 win away to Italy last September.
King's side play Holland in a friendly next Wednesday.
