Irish rookie: I'm ready for Robbie
ROOKIE Irish defender Matt Doherty says he's ready to take on Robbie Keane if called upon in tomorrow's vital midlands derby in the English Premier League.
The 20-year-old Dubliner made only his fifth appearance of the season for Wolves in Wednesday's FA Cup defeat to Birmingham City, and while Mick McCarthy is likely to recall the senior pros who were rested for the midweek game, Doherty's impressive display at right back certainly gave the under-pressure Wolves boss food for thought.
"It would be an amazing game to play in, especially if Robbie plays for Villa against us at Molineux, and it would be a dream for me to play in that and maybe mark Robbie," Doherty told the Herald.
"We really need the win so it's a massive game for Wolves and there's a lot of pressure riding on it. If I was asked to play against Robbie I hope I'd rise to the challenge. I used to watch him playing for Ireland as a kid and I never though I'd have a chance of playing against him in the Premier League."
