Irish duo fire up Dons' Euro bid

ABERDEEN produced a memorable victory over Groningen in Holland but manager Derek McInnes was not surprised by his team's performance.

First-half goals from Dubliner Adam Rooney, from the spot, and former Derry City star Niall McGinn sent the Dons on their way to a 2-1 victory as Aberdeen set up a Europa League third qualifying round clash with Real Sociedad with an aggregate win of the same scoreline.

McInnes said: "It is a big result but to be honest it's no more than I expected. I always felt we could win here."
