LORENZO INSIGNE'S agent has denied claims that Arsenal have made a move to sign his client.

Reports in England suggested the Gunners were ready to make a £20m bid for the 23-year-old winger, who was a member of Italy's World Cup squad in Brazil.

"We have not been contacted by Arsenal for Lorenzo Insigne and Napoli has not notified us of this interest," Insigne's agent Fabio Andreotti said.

"Lorenzo is a target of several European sides so it wouldn't surprise me if big clubs are interested in him.

"However, Napoli don't want to put him in the market."

Insigne scored eight goals in all competitions for Napoli last season as Rafa Benitez's men finished third in Serie A to secure Champions League qualification. He scored twice in a 3-1 win over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final. The Naples-born player is under contract with Napoli until June 2017.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will not sell full-back Mathieu Debuchy on the cheap amid claims he is close to a move to Arsenal.

A report in France yesterday suggested the 28-year-old France defender will be heading for the Emirates Stadium this summer having also been linked with Paris St Germain and Monaco.

However, the news came as a surprise to sources at the Tyneside club, who said the claims were at best premature.

Debuchy, a £5.5million signing from Lille in January 2013, impressed last season in what proved a difficult campaign for the Magpies, but has made a series of equivocal comments over his future during the summer.

Newcastle have no desire to lose the player, but having eventually agreed to sell his good friend Yohan Cabaye to PSG in January for around £19million, they are bracing themselves for an approach this summer.

Villa duo extend deals

Gary Gardner and Callum Robinson have signed new two-year deals at Aston Villa.

Midfielder Gardner, 22, put pen to paper on a new contract having agreed to extend his stay at Villa Park in May, while 19-year-old forward Robinson has also committed his future to the Premier League side after returning from holiday.

The pair have been at the club since childhood, with Gardner making 18 appearances for the Villa first team since making his debut in Villa's 3-1 victory at Chelsea on New Year's Eve in 2011. Robinson has five senior appearances after making his debut against Tottenham in the Capital One Cup in September 2013.

Gardner, who has enjoyed loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry in the past and is the brother of former Villa midfielder Craig Gardner, told the club's official website: "I'm buzzing.

"The club have been brilliant with me. I've had a bit of bad luck in the past two years but I'm feeling good and strong now so hopefully I can repay them."

Wallace loaned to Vitesse

Chelsea have announced full-back Wallace has joined Vitesse Arnhem on a season-long loan to gain more regular first-team football.

The 20-year-old is the latest in a long line of Chelsea players to be loaned out to Vitesse. Lucas Piazon, Bertrand Traore, Patrick van Aanholt, Christian Atsu, Gael Kakuta and Sam Hutchinson have all spent time at the Dutch club in the last 12 months.
