Holy Goalie Artur Boruc in line for miraculous return for Poland
Holy Goalie ready to line out against Ireland
THE Holy Goalie, former Celtic man Artur Boruc, will be in place for Poland against Ireland next month instead of Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny, according to reports in Warsaw.
While Martin O'Neill ponders his injury woes, with Robbie Brady and David McGoldrick now almost certain to miss the game, his Polish counterpart has a real dilemma in goal.
Szczesny has been Poland's No 1 but he's been dropped by Arsene Wenger and has not played in a Premier League or Champions League game since that 2-0 loss to Southampton on New Year's Day. Now he's got the axe from Poland coach Adam Nawalka.
Ex-Bhoys hero Boruc (right) (Bournemouth) and Swansea City man Lukasz Fabianski are in form but Polish goalkeeping legend Jan Tomaszewski reveals that Boruc has won the spot from Szczesny for that key date in Dublin.
"The manager has told me that he's decided on Boruc," said ex-international Tomaszewski.
"Wenger told the manager that Szczesny will not play in the league again. Because of that he has decided that Boruc will play against Ireland."
