Shamrock Rovers have continued their squad-building for the 2018 season by agreeing new terms with three more members of last season's squad.

The Hoops have to date made just two new signings, Greg Bolger (Cork City) and Ethan Boyle (Finn Harps) with three senior players leaving (Dave Webster (Waterford), Ryan Connolly, Simon Madden). James Doona stated on social media this week that he was leaving Rovers to take on a fresh challenge, possibly in England as the youth international had previously been on trial with Tranmere Rovers.

But Rovers boss Stephen Bradley has signed Luke Byrne, Sam Bone and keeper Kevin Horgan on new deals.

"I am delighted to have the three boys signed up for 2018, Luke came back after a long term injury last season and showed he was back to his best, if not even better," said Bradley.

"Kevin and Sam impressed us in their first season at the club and made a number of appearances where they showed their real potential and we will get even more from these players in 2018.

"The squad is building really well and I am very happy with our progress at this stage of our planning for 2018".

Meanwhile, the much-travelled striker Anto Flood has left the League of Ireland scene, temporarily at least, and hooked up with Sheriff YC.

Flood lined out for Bray Wanderers last season, his seventh League of Ireland side in a career which has also seen him play in Sweden, England and Australia.

But he's now opted to drop into the non-league ranks and hopes to make his Sheriff debut against Baldoyle United tomorrow.

Bray have yet to appoint a new manager, following Harry Kenny's announcement at the end of last season that he was stepping down. Wanderers, who also lost Ryan Brennan to St Pat's, have five players under contract for 2018 but players like Gary McCabe and Aaron Greene are wanted by rival clubs.
