Gunners left to sweat on Van Persie
HOLLAND and Arsenal were today sweating on the fitness of Robin van Persie after the striker suffered an injury scare during training last night.
Van Persie, who has scored 33 times for club and country this term, was unable to complete the full 60-minute Holland training session at Wembley last night ahead of tonight's friendly against England in London.
The 28-year-old had to sit out the final part of the session after aggravating a groin injury, which he is thought to have suffered during the Gunners' 5-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Holland were assessing the injury today before deciding whether to play Van Persie, but Dutch head coach Bert van Marwijk struck an optimistic tone, saying: "We will have to wait and see but I don't think it's too serious. I am optimistic he will play."
O'Donovan in Hibs fight
CORK lad Roy O'Donovan says he's determined to make sure that his loan spell with Pat Fenlon's Hibernian side does not end up in relegation from the Scottish Premier League.
O'Donovan joined Hibs on loan from Coventry City last month and made his mark by scoring in last week's win over Motherwell.
And even though the former Cork City man can walk away from Easter Road at the end of the season, O'Donovan says he's more than aware of the club's plight. "We will be fighting tooth and nail like anyone else," he said.
