Given could be out for season
GIOVANNI Trapattoni's worst fears about Shay Given and Robbie Keane will be confirmed in the next 24 hours.
Given travelled to London today for another scan on his damaged shoulder but it is expected that this will simply confirm an opinion formed by the surgeon involved that he needs surgery.
That would rule Given out of action until the summer and opens up the possibility that he has played his last game for Manchester City.
Keane, meanwhile, has been scheduled for a return by West Ham for their tussle with Manchester United at Upton Park on April 2, five days after Ireland take on Macedonia at Lansdowne Road.
If he misses that game, it will be his first no show for a competitive game under Trapattoni and the first he has missed since he was absent for the trip to Slovakia in March 2007 for a Euro 2008 qualifier.
