gibson: it's now or never
DARRON Gibson says it's "now or never" for him in his bid to get his international career started.
The 26-year-old has managed just 21 caps in an Ireland career which started back in 2007 and he has been sidelined for almost a year after he suffered a knee injury while on World Cup duty for Ireland against Kazakhstan in Dublin last season.
But Martin O'Neill has promised to start Gibson in central midfield in a friendly against Oman tonight (7.45) and the Derry native knows this is his chance to establish himself.
"Being out for ten months last season gave me time to think about things. I think it's now or never really, to be honest with you. I'm looking forward to the task," said Gibson.
"I'm not getting any younger. I need to start playing games. I need to start doing well for myself."
O'Neill will rest James McCarthy for the Oman test, while James McClean, who has yet to play for Wigan this season, is an injury concern.
