Former Ireland U-21 cap Ross Gaynor has ended his time with Sligo Rovers.

The 26-year-old spent two and a half seasons at the Showgrounds, winning Premier Division and FAI Cup medals and he had practically been an ever-present this season, missing just three league games for the Bit O'Red.

But newly-appointed boss John Coleman says the club have now parted ways with the Ardee lad.

"We've decided to go down a different route and with a different style of play," said Coleman.

"We thank Ross for his efforts while I've been here and in the previous seasons. We go forward and wish him all the best."

Gaynor previously had spells with Cobh Ramblers, Sporting Fingal, Drogheda United and Dundalk.
