Fergie sets Roo title-winning target
ALEX Ferguson has set Wayne Rooney a title-winning target of 40 goals after Manchester United leap-frogged Manchester City to take control at the top of the Premier League.
"If Wayne gets to 40 goals I will be absolutely delighted because we will be in business then," said Ferguson, who could hardly contain his pleasure at the news that Roberto Mancini's men fell short against surprise-packets Swansea.
"The City defeat was a bonus I didn't expect but I am happy to be top because only a few weeks ago we were seven points behind," claimed Ferguson.
"The experienced players like Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs know what's required because they have been here before.
"They want the title this season just as much as when they were first setting out on their careers.
"They don't let us down and it's this quality that has made it easy for me to give players like Giggs and Scholes new contracts that take them past the age when most footballers are ready for an easier life."
