Exeter not flying in for UCD's star man Swan
League Two side Exeter City have distanced themselves from a move for UCD prospect Ryan Swan, but Walsall are keeping up their interest in Derry City man Patrick McClean.
UCD striker Swan spent time training with Exeter last week, leading to suggestions that a deal was on the cards, but Grecians boss Paul Tisdale says there is no offer on the way and that Swan was just training with the side.
"He was a terrific lad but, one, he can't sign for us, as it's out of the window, and secondly, we're not looking," said Tisdale.
But Walsall want to see more of Derry man McClean, brother of Ireland cap James. "We invited him over last week and he also trained with us on Monday and Tuesday," says Walsall manager Jon Whitney. "He has done well in training. He was wearing T-shirts and shorts. He's a proper defender, he doesn't feel the cold!
"He is old-school so we will continue to have a look at him."
