Euro-bound Dundalk hit Limerick for six

DUNDALK will have given the watching scouts from Belarus some food for thought with a win in an at-times bizarre eight-goal battle with bottom side Limerick last night.

The Blues came to Oriel Park on the back of a five-game losing streak and Dundalk, in Champions League action against BATE Borisov in two weeks' time, expected a home win.

With just 35 minutes gone, Dundalk had a 3-0 lead thanks to Stephen O'Donnell, Brian Gartland and David McMillan, McMillan (pictured) scoring again nine minutes into the second half. Sean Harding got one back for Limerick but Gartland struck again to make it 5-1. Skipper Shane Duggan netted for Limerick but there was time for one more goal, Tony Whitehead with an own goal to finish it at 6-2.
