Dunne facing fitness battle ahead of finals
RICHARD Dunne is facing the battle of his life to be fit in time for Ireland's Euro 2012 adventure.
Giovanni Trapattoni's worst nightmare came to pass when Dunne (below) clashed with Joe Hart while searching for an equalising Aston Villa goal against Manchester City and heavily on his right shoulder.
"We've a specialist in looking at him," said Villa voss Alex McLeish. "I can't give you an answer just now, but I do believe he is going to be out for at least a month, so that's serious enough."
A scan later today will reveal whether Dunne has broken his collar bone or just dislocated it but either way, the recovery from such an injury can be long and troublesome.
Club-mate and international colleague Shay Given had surgery on a shoulder injury almost a year ago to the day and missed the rest of the season.
