Dundalk's fine run continues
REIGNING Premier Division champions continued their 100 per cent start to the season with a 2-0 win over struggling Sligo Rovers at Oriel Park.
Stephen Kenny's side have yet to concede a goal in over 450 minutes of football and their blistering form of late is ominous for the chasing pack.
The Lilywhites started on the front foot against Rovers, with midfield enforcer Richie Towell going close in the early stages before in-form frontman David McMillan gave the hosts a deserved lead on 17 minutes when he latched onto a wonderful pass from Daryl Horgan to brilliantly sidefoot home into the top corner of the Sligo net.
At this point Sligo were struggling to get a foothold in the game and fell further behind on 26 minutes, thanks to a volley from Towell.
In last night's other Premier Division games, Derry City enjoyed a 2-0 win over Drogheda United at the Brandywell, with first-half goals from Anthony Elding and Barry McNamee.
At Eamon Deacy Park, Galway United and Longford Town played out a 1-1 draw with goals from Jake Keegan and Gary Shaw respectively.
