Dundalk see off bit o' Red

DUNDALK showed their Premier Division title mettle once again at Oriel Park last night as they beat reigning champions Sligo Rovers 2-0.

And Chris Shields grabbed Dundalk's second on 60 minutes to put the game beyond Sligo.

At the Brandywell, Drogheda United put a huge dent in Derry City's title ambitions with a 2-0 win.

Gavin Brennan put the visitors in front in the 38th minute with Ryan Brennan doubling Drogheda's lead from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute.

UCD enjoyed a rare away victory when they beat Limerick FC 3-1 at Thomond Park. Cillian Morrison added a third for UCD in the 87th minute to seal the points.

Cork City enjoyed a 2-1 win over Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds.

Ian Turner's opener was cancelled out by Bray's Ismahil Akinade, but Ciaran Kilduff grabbed the winner for Cork in the 80th minute.
