Duff ready to go out on a high
ROY Hodgson will wait until minutes before tonight's Europa Cup final against Atletico Madrid in Hamburg before making a final decision but it looks like a week in a hyperbaric chamber has worked a minor miracle for Damien Duff.
The Fulham winger has done everything possible to shake off a leg muscle pull during the last ten days, including prolonged periods in an altitude chamber.
Duff took part in a pre-match warm-up in the Hamburg Arena without any reaction but Bobby Zamora remains a big doubt for Cottagers boss Hodgson.
Meanwhile, potential Irish recruit Jamie O'Hara has missed out on selection for Fabio Capello's preliminary World Cup squad. Despite a double stress fracture in his back, O'Hara is desperate to play in the FA Cup final for Portsmouth.
"I have got two fractures on the lower part of my spine and if it was any other time, it is eight weeks out," he said.
Speculation suggested that O'Hara had an outside chance of making the England squad for South Africa and while his injury woes may have played a part in Capello's thinking, Giovanni Trapattoni will hope that the midfielder will now throw in his lot with the Republic of Ireland.
