Dublin rivals in Kennedy showdown

THE University of Limerick is bracing itself for an all "Baile Átha Cliath" SFAI Kennedy Cup semi-final after both the North Dublin Schoolboy League (NDSL) and the Dublin District Schoolboy League (DDSL) won their quarter-finals yesterday.

Both sides will meet in a repeat of the 2011 SFAI Kennedy Cup final which the NDSL won to deny the DDSL their eighth win in-a-row.

The NDSL appeared to be cruising to a comfortable win over Waterford in last night's quarter-final after opening up a 4-0 lead.

Two-goal Zachary Elbouzedi, Yousef Mahdy and Jean-Yves Poame were all on target for the defending champions.

The NDSL were then reduced to 10-men when Poame was red-carded and Waterford then pulled three goals back - Sam Hudson getting amongst the scores - to ensure that it was a nail-biting finish for the North Dubs.

Target

Meanwhile, Steven Kinsella, Conor Masterson and Conor Davis were on target for the Garrett Dodrill managed DDSL in their 3-0 victory over Kerry.

Cork left it late to see off the determined challenge of hosts Limerick.

The game appeared to be headingfor penalties when Ross Welch swung over a corner two minutes from time.

However, Matthew Murray had other ideas and when Welch's corner was parried into his path the Cork midfielder rifled a scorching volley into the roof of the net.

Wexford, who beat Kilkenny 3-1 yesterday, await the Leesiders.
