Drogs 'can stay at United Park'

THE FAI has guaranteed Drogheda United the use of its home ground for next season as the 2007 Premier Division champions try to stay afloat.

A new steering group in charge of United warned two weeks ago that they needed to raise €200,000 from fans and investors to have a chance of playing in the league for this season, but a supporters meeting last night was told that the club are still short of that target.

The FAI, however, has said that United Park, which is owned by the association, will be available to the club for as long as they need it.

"The ground will only be sold if and when the club wishes to fund the building of a new stadium," said FAI chief executive John Delaney.

Drogheda have had to call off tonight's Dundalk friendly.
