Doyle signs up for four more years at Wolves
KEVIN DOYLE has ended lingering speculation about his contract situation at Molineux by signing a new four-deal which will net him £6m.
The move gives security to Doyle but even more so to Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, who must have feared he would lose the Republic of Ireland striker to a bigger club during the summer.
However, doubts over Doyle’s fitness caused by his troublesome knee injury made several top clubs pause. Interest had been reported from Liverpool and Chelsea in the close season. “I don’t really think there was anything in the speculation this summer.
I spoke to the gaffer on the first day of pre-season when we talked about this contract and I was keen to get it done,” said Doyle. “
It’s been agreed for a while between myself and the manager – it was just a case of everything getting sorted.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here and am very happy to have signed the deal.”
