Dortmund to miss Goetze until New Year
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Goetze will not play again until the New Year after tearing ankle ligaments.
The Germany international fired Dortmund 3-0 ahead against Schalke on Saturday but was taken off in the second half after being fouled before the visitors secured a dramatic 4-4 draw at the death.
The club have now confirmed he is out of action until after the Bundesliga's winter break in January.
"Bad news for Borussia Dortmund: midfielder Mario Goetze sustained partial ligament tears in his upper and lower ankle in the Bundesliga match against Schalke 04 on Saturday," read a statement.
"It is estimated that the 25-year-old will be out of action for approximately six weeks.
"At the very earliest, he could be back with the squad for the start of the second half of the season on 14 January 2018, when BVB play host to VfL Wolfsburg."
