DISGRUNTLED Rangers supporters scored a significant victory ahead of a crucial vote on the composition of the board when director James Easdale resigned yesterday.

Easdale, who faced being removed a week on Friday, admitted the futility of his struggle to remain in power at Ibrox when he handed in his resignation.

Although he did not concede he would have lost the vote, he did recognise that he would not be able to win supporters round even if he kept his seat.
