Devlin on trial at Rovers

SHAMROCK ROVERS have offered a trial to Northern Ireland U21 keeper Conor Devlin.

The former Manchester United trainee has been linked with a number of League of Ireland clubs over the last month and Belfast lad Devlin spent some time training with Shelbourne, though the Reds opted not to follow up their interest in the 20-year-old.

But Rovers, who are currently without a senior keeper as Richard Brush has left the club to rejoin Sligo Rovers, are interested and Devlin lined out for the Hoops in a friendly on Saturday.

Devlin was the only trialist to feature for Rovers in their 1-0 win over Mervue United in Tallaght Stadium. New signings Conor Powell, Colin Hawkins, Graham Gartland and Daryl Kavanagh all started for the Hoops. Gary O'Neill scored the only goal of the game.

Rovers flew out to England yesterday for a pre-season training camp.
