Devine presence is a real positive
COACHING is top of the agenda at the SDFL and with John Devine at the helm as Director of Coaching things are already falling into shape.
Devine has only been in the post since Christmas but such is the popularity of his 3v3 demonstrations the number of coaches showing up at these sessions has increased each time.
The most recent demonstration in the SDFL Complex in Ballyowen Park attracted almost 60 coaches, and with plans to roll them out in the coming months at various clubs within the league this number should increase even further.
Already over 200 coaches have benefited from these demonstrations, of which there had been four held previously, and the feedback has been very positive.
The objective of the 3v3 is to get players feeling more comfortable on the ball and the day was very informal with a talk from John before players from various clubs within the SDFL were lead on to the field for a demonstration. That was followed by a question and answer session.
There's no doubt that all who attended picked up some valuable information to take back to their clubs and put into practice with their players.
The feedback was positive with Ivan Murphy of Blessington AFC saying "We have three coaches here today and I have been very impressed with John and the coaching today and would encourage more coaches to attend these sessions".
While Dave Brown from Rathcoole FC said:" I have picked up several things including getting the players more involved in decision making, which is probably the best thing I learned today."
