Deila's Eoghan praise
Celtic manager Ronny Deila says he is happy with the progress of Ireland U21 cap Eoghan O'Connell (pictured) at Parkhead this season.
The 19-year-old Cork lad replaced the injured Jason Denayer in the 3-0 League Cup win over Hearts at Parkhead on Wednesday night before making his fourth appearance of the season in the 2-1 Premiership victory over St Mirren on Saturday.
"He is progressing," said Deila.
"He was better than he was on Wednesday, he was a little bit nervous then. Against St Mirren he played with confidence and won a lot of challenges in the air. He is only 19 years old and he is a talented player."
O'Connell made his debut for the Bhoys has season but has been more of a presence in Deila's squad this term and he has also made progress at international level.
Last week the defender was named in Noel King's Ireland U21 squad for a friendly away to Norway next month and players like O'Connell will play a major role in the next U21 Euro qualifying campaign.
Meanwhile, Dubliner Adam Rooney made it 11 goals from 12 games this season when he scored for Aberdeen in their 3-2 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle
