CSKA moscow snuff out any CHAMPiONS LEAGUE hopes for nine-man blues

MANCHESTER City went into Champions League meltdown at the Etihad and ended up with nine men and no points against CSKA Moscow who won 2-1.

Tagged as a must-win match if Manuel Pellegrini was to have any hope of delivering the Champions League knock-out phase, the game went awry long before Fernandhino and Yaya Tooure were both sent off.

CSKA began with a bang and were a goal up inside two minutes via Seydou Doumbia, quickly matched by a stunning free-kick from Yaya Toure.

But when Doumbia nipped in for a second after 34 minutes, City's chances of emerging from their group faded rapidly, made all the more difficult by Fernandhino's second-half dismissal for a second bookable offence.

Worse was to follow when Yaya Toure lashed out at Roman Eremenko and was shown a straight red.
