Coyle to start Irish starlet Connolly
BOLTON boss Owen Coyle will consider handing Ireland U21 star Mark Connolly his first team debut in tonight's Carling Cup clash with Aston Villa.
The Monaghan-born defender has yet to play senior football for the club but he was on the bench for the win over Macclesfield in the last round, and Connolly hopes that Coyle (pictured above) will give him the nod to feature against Villa, with Bolton forced into changes as Dedryck Boyata (ineligible) and Ivan Klasnic (suspended) are out of the squad.
Mick McCarthy will also use the Carling Cup to try out some of his fringe players, including Irish teenagers Matt Doherty and Anthony Forde.
Full back Doherty started while Limerick lad Forde came on as a sub as Wolves overcame Northampton Town 4-0 in the last round of the competition and McCarthy has vowed to rest players for their meeting with Millwall tonight.
Meanwhile, current U21 cap Aidan White hopes to return to the Leeds United side for their clash with Manchester United at Elland Road.
