Celtic sign £3m Scepovic

Celtic last night completed the 'on-off-on' deal to sign Stefan Scepovic and are hoping to complete a deal for Manchester City's John Guidetti today.

Scepovic finally appeared in Glasgow last night to complete his €3m switch from Sporting Gijon after the deal appeared to be called off on Sunday night.

Speaking after Celtic's 1-1 draw at Dundee on Sunday Ronny Deila described the transfer as on-going but after completing a medical and getting a work permit the striker seemed to have pulled out of the move in favour of joining Getafe.

When that deal floundered on Monday morning Celtic and Scepovic renewed their interest in each other with a deal for the 24-year-old Serbian completed with an hour to spare last night.

After fearing that the move for Scepovic had stalled Celtic switched their attention to Guidetti who is in the final year of his Manchester City contract.

The 22-year-old Swede arrived at Celtic Park around 8pm last night but three hours later the deal hadn't been completed to the satisfaction of the SFA.

While Manchester United were able to announce the loan signing of Radamel Falcao two and a half hours after the 'deadline' passed Celtic were unable to get their move for Guidetti completed last night.

Celtic have until 11pm to get that deal rubber stamped in time to register Guidetti for their Europa League campaign that starts on September 18 away to Salzburg.

On the departure front Amido Balde, Teemu Pukki, Dylan McGeouch, Holmbert Fridjonsson and Jackson Irvine all went out on loan.
