Buckley promises fans thrilling tie

ST PAT'S boss Liam Buckley has pleaded with the barstool brigade to come out and support his side as they bid for European glory tonight.

A glamour tie with Bundesliga outfit Hannover 96 will be the reward for the Saints if they can get past Bosnian side Siroki Brijeg at Richmond Park tonight, Pats holding an advantage of an away goal from a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

If St Pat's get through they'll be at home to Hannover in the first leg next Thursday, but UEFA regulations will force the Saints to move that tie to Tallaght Stadium.

The Saints have put on some memorable European nights at Richmond Park in their successful runs over the past four years and Buckley has promised the public that they will get their money's worth.

"I would love if the barstoolers would just come down and watch the games, get involved and shout for us because you can't do that in front of the television," Buckley said. "The atmosphere at a live game, especially in Europe, is something else and I'd love people to come down and give us a chance.

"I can guarantee anyone who comes to the game tonight that it will be a helter-skelter match as we are desperate to get though.

"We want to get through for the sake of the club and our supporters, but we also know it would be great for the league if we can get through.

"And playing a German side here in Dublin is an amazing thing to aim for," added the Saints supremo.
