Buckley: Fixture list damaging quality
Liam Buckley fears that the spate of midweek fixtures is damaging the quality of the League of Ireland.
St Pat's were one of a number of clubs who played twice in the space of four days, though they overcame fatigue on Monday night to beat Waterford 1-0.
However, by the time they face league leaders Dundalk on April 30, the Saints will have played seven times in a month.
"We'll have 13 games in seven weeks which is just ridiculous, it's madness. But it is what it is and we have to get on with it - all teams have these fixtures," says Buckley, his side earning a rest now with their next game on Saturday, away to Sligo Rovers.
"Those two games per week, you will pick up injuries. For me, it just needs to be spread out a little bit more evenly. We've five games in 13 days next month. You think about that, five league games. That's 15 points out of whatever tally we're playing towards. It's very difficult," added Buckley, who is delighted with the recent form of Jamie Lennon and Darragh Markey.
Meanwhile, Shelbourne have confirmed the addition of Dave Henderson to their staff as Head of Recruitment. Henderson had previously worked with Bohemians in that role.
Shels have also appointed former Shamrock Rovers player Dave O'Connor as their new CEO.
