Shamrock Rovers striker Sean Boyd is ready to endure more stick from his Bohemians-supporting friends when the two clubs meet again in the EA Sports Cup tonight.
Boyd (19) scored his first goal for the Hoops in a 3-1 win over Bohs last season. His celebrations in front of the away fans earned Boyd a booking and while he's now older and wiser, he's keen to score again at Tallaght Stadium this evening.
"I knew a lot of their fans, I have been out with my girlfriend and seen people to say hello, I'd talk to a good few people who are Bohs fans. They were just a bit hyped up on the night," Boyd says of that debut goal which means he will not be quickly forgotten by the Rovers supporters.
"Hopefully, I won't forget it anyway," he says. "It was brilliant, it was a career highlight but hopefully I can get a few more, it's definitely up there."
Boyd has yet to score this season but he hopes that the campaign for himself and his side, boosted by Friday's 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers, is on the up.
"I haven't played against every team, I am only getting used to the league and I am still a baby, really," he says. "I think the goals will come, I should have scored against Drogheda but they will come, it will take a bit of time".
