Bohs bag Fagan as Fenlon begins rebuild
FORMER Manchester United trainee Chris Fagan is back home in Dublin after agreeing a deal with Bohemians.
The Gypsies have endured the most difficult off-season in the club's 121-year history as the debt-ridden outfit were threatened with a winding-up order, and at one point the long-term future of the club was in doubt.
But Bohs fans have been given some relief in the last 24 hours: yesterday the club confirmed that they have been given a Premier Division licence for the 2011 season after they sorted out their debts to former players and staff, while today manager Pat Fenlon stepped up the process of building a squad for the new season with the first signings of the new campaign.
Last night Bohs had sealed deals to sign forwards Chris Fagan (pictured right) and Anto Flood, while this morning Fenlon was in talks with Mark Rossiter, Liam Burns, Aidan Price and Ger O'Brien and he hoped to complete the signing of that quartet by close of business today, while Bohs are also trying to sign ex-Sporting Fingal man Shaun Williams in the face of interest from Shamrock Rovers.
Bohs are also in line to secure a loan deal for Daniel Joyce, an Ireland U19 defender who is currently with Championship side Reading.
Dubliner Fagan, 21, is keen to relaunch his career at Bohs after an indifferent few seasons which have seen the U21 cap line out for clubs in England, Scotland and Spain.
A regular in the Manchester United youth and reserve teams, he was released by United in 2008 and then spent a year playing in Spain with Jerez Industrial, a lower league side attached to the Glenn Hoddle Academy.
A short spell with Scottish side Hamilton in 2009 failed to work out and he then had spells with Lincoln City and non-league side Gateshead before deciding to return to Ireland.
Fagan, 21, lined out for Shamrock Rovers in a friendly game two weeks ago but has now opted to join Bohs.
The Gypsies have also secured the signing of Dubliner Anto Flood.
The 26-year-old played for St Pats, Athlone, Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne and Galway United before moving to Swedish side Orebro last summer.
