AVB facing all-out revolt

ANDRE Villas-Boas is facing elimination from the Champions League and open revolt at Stamford Bridge.

Key senior players Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien offered Villas-Boas a scathing assessment of his methods during a clear-the-air meeting last Sunday.

"I came here to win medals and trophies, but I'm never going to do that with your tactics," said Cole (left) when asked for his opinion by Villas-Boas.

Cole was the most forthright but all three were benched for last night's 3-1 Champions League defeat by Napoli. However, Villas Boas is still adamant that he has the backing of Roman Abramovich and refuted suggestions that his team selection reflected Sunday's meeting.

"I have full confidence from the owner. Manager for the second leg? Yes, for sure," he said.

"It's a team selection. I could go on and explain but it makes no difference. It was based on what was fair at that moment, the best team."
