Australia provide Centenary Shield warm-up battle

THE FAI Schools U18 International side will begin the final stages of preparation for this year's Centenary Shield when they take on Australia in Dublin tomorrow, writes Gavin Earley.

Debut-season manager Ollie Horgan, of St Eunan's College in Letterkenny, will run the rule over his panel at the Oscar Traynor Centre in Coolock (2pm KO).

Ireland welcome Northern Ireland to Limerick on March 16 in their Centenary Shield opener, before Scotland visit Waterford's RSC on the March 30. Trips to Wales and England finish the schedule in April.

Tomorrow's fixture is a regular clash, with Ireland beating Australia 3-1 on their last visit to the capital two years ago, while the sides drew 1-1 in 2008.

Leinster will have a huge representation in the Ireland panel, with St Patrick's Athletic trio Adam O'Connor (Drimnagh Castle), Eoin Hyland (Oatlands College) and Conor Pepper (Portmarnock CS) leading the way for the home side.
