Ancelotti: no mercy
Bayern boss will not rest players against Arsenal
Carlo Ancelotti will show no mercy when he tells his Bayern Munich players to put Arsenal out of their Champions League misery.
With a 5-1 first-leg lead to play with at the Emirates tonight, Ancelotti could throw in fringe players but he will spare Arsene Wenger nothing.
"I will play my best team," he said ominously.
"It could be a good moment to show that we are focused from the beginning and that we want to win and we don't take into consideration the advantage we have," he said.
Ancelotti is a big fan of Wenger and offered some sympathy for a man now under severe pressure.
"I sympathise with him as a manager and a man. I have a good relationship with him and of course a lot of respect because not all the managers would be able to do what he did here in this club."
Forced to field questions about disgruntled Alexis Sanchez in his pre-match media appearance, Wenger interrupted when Per Mertesecker was asked whether the players wanted to hold onto their boss.
"The board chooses the manager. I can understand that I am criticised after these results, but it's not down to the players to choose the manager," Wenger snapped.
"The players have to perform for this football club. It's not about the politics. We are judged on performance. I have to perform and the players have to perform," he said.
