Adebayor backs side to bounce back

EMMANUEL Adebayor has called on Tottenham to bounce back from their hammering at Arsenal with a win over Manchester United this weekend to show their title credentials.

Spurs went in to Sunday's game at Arsenal confident of doing the double over their rivals for the first time since 1993, but instead they suffered a humiliating 5-2 loss despite leading 2-0 inside 40 minutes.

Spurs now trail leaders Manchester City by 10 points -- and also increased Arsenal and Chelsea's hopes of catching Harry Redknapp's team, who sit third in the table -- and they know victory over United this weekend is a must.

"If you want to be champions, these games against the likes of Manchester United are the kind of games we have to be winning," Adebayor said.

"We can't ask for a bigger challenge than playing Manchester United.

"It will be a tough game but we are ready for it," added the ex-Arsenal man.
