Silver lining for Irish pair as they top rankings after Cairo

Irish Olympic pentathletes Natalya Coyle (pictured) and Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe top the mixed relay world ranking after taking silver at the Cairo World Cup.

Last month the pair had also taken silver at the opening World Cup of the season in Sarasota, Florida.

After a solid start in the fencing, the Irish pair finished top in the swim, and held onto their overall lead with clear rounds in the horse riding. They started the run/shoot combined event with a single point advantage and lost out to the Mexican team only in the sprint for the finish line.

Earlier, Lanigan O'Keeffe had qualified for the men's individual final, where he finished ninth. O'Keeffe's best performance came in the swim, where he clocked the seventh fastest time. Coyle just missed out on qualifying for the women's final, finishing 13th in her qualifier.

Next up for the Irish is the third World Cup in Rome on April 13. That is followed by the fourth World Cup in Hungary on May 4 and the World Cup final in Belarus on June 14.
