Zebo sizzles with hat-trick for Munster
Guinness Pro12 round-up
Simon Zebo struck for a first-half hat-trick to catapult Munster to the expected bonus-point victory (31-5)over Zebre in the PRO12 League at Thomond Park last night.
The Irish wing wizard was at his opportunistic best to make the Italians pay the price in the 14th, 30th and 36th minutes for a 17-0 lead with JJ Hanrahan kicking one conversion. The bonus-point arrived through centre Andrew Smith in the 43rd minute as prop Dave Kilcoyne rounded out the quintet of tries to see Munster leap to third for at least one night.
Ulster moved equal on points with Connacht by virtue of their 26-9 win away to Cardiff Blues with the Ospreys and Glasgow capable of overtaking them this weekend.
Ireland fly-half Paddy Jackson was on target in the eighth, 30th, 34th and 40th minutes to edge out Cardiff full-back Rhys Patchell's three kicks for Ulster to lead 12-9 at the interval.
It was all set for a torrid second period which ultimately came down to Ulster's superiority up front.
The tries from second row Dan Tuohy in the 52nd minute and replacement Ian Humphreys in the 57th minute were killer blows, with Jackson adding the extras for both of them.
