Walsh revels in Michael's show of force

This eight-try demonstration by St Michael's was as impressive as it was easy against Wesley in the Leinster Schools Junior Cup first round at Templeville Road yesterday.

Wesley had a superb full-back in Ian Sheridan, who didn't have to be asked twice to counter-attack. The back-row of Dane Laird, Robbie Whitehead and Sam Darley did all they could against a tidal wave of possession.

St Michael's jumped out to a 14-0 lead from tries by left wing Ian Walsh and full-back Redmond Kelly which were both converted by centre David Ryan

Number eight Dan O'Donovan crashed home from close range, Walsh grounded out wide and Kelly sidestepped to his second for a 31-0 lead at the interval.

Goal-kicker Ryan, flanker Scott Penny and replacement Jay Barron sealed the issue as they eased off the accelerator
