Terblanche is Ulster's hero
Wing Stefan Terblanche's dramatic last-minute try gave Ulster a bonus-point 30-12 victory over The Dragons at Ravenhill last night to move up to fifth in the Rabodirect PRO12 League in what has been a traumatic week for their coach Brian McLaughlin, writes Des Berry.
The former Irish Skills coach knows his contract will be terminated at the end of this season in what is a poor return for landing Ulster in the Heineken Cup quarter-final for the second season and now moving to within two points of Munster and a PRO12 play-off position.
First-half tries from number eight Robbie Diack, from a neatly worked lineout, and scrum-half Ruan Pienaar, a candidate for try of the season, took Ulster halfway to a bonus point, but only six points (15-9) out of The Dragons reach.
Former Ireland U20 wing Craig Gilroy struck for the third try in the third quarter.
From there, Ulster struggled to make progress until replacement Ali Birch's surge to set up Terblanche for the bonus-point touchdown.
