TALLAGHT is not an area synonymous with rugby just yet, but there is enough dedication from the coaches and players of Tallaght Community School to suggest this may not be the case for much longer.
The challenge facing first-year coaches Donagh Ryan and Peter Young is a daunting one. Soccer rules the roost but there are signs this is beginning to change, as the school is enjoying its most successful rugby campaign.
"Winning a few matches back to back with the bit of excitement means the lads are now motivating each other, they're saying to each other you've got to come out to training," said Donagh.
There is a feeling that progress is at last being made on the back of two victories in the Development Shield.
And the buzz was palpable as pupils prepared for their quarter-final against CBC New Ross last Tuesday.
Centre Conor Stewart said: "We lost a lot of players last year but this is the best year so far and this is the year we could win something."
