Sexton still looking up to O'Gara in Europe
Jonathan Sexton is about to overtake Ulster's David Humphreys as sixth on the European Cup all-time top-scorers chart, writes Des Berry.
This is based on the presumption that the Ireland out-half will overcome his quad injury for the return leg against Exeter Chiefs on Saturday.
The meagre three points booted last Sunday took him to within four points of Humphreys' total of 564 points.
The measure of Ronan O'Gara's impact on the competition is right there at the top points-scorers.
The Top-10 is a 'who's who' of Europe's greatest goal-kickers, O'Gara heading the charts on a whopping 1,365 points.
The Scarlet Stephen Jones is in second, Biarritz's Dimitri Yachvili is in third and Italy's Diego Dominguez is back in fourth.
Realistically, the only man in with a shout of dethroning O'Gara is the Saracen Owen Farrell.
The 26-year-old has already climbed to fifth on the elite ladder with many years of contending ahead, despite Clermont ending their record-breaking 20-match unbeaten run on Monday.
