Munster in 'advanced' discussion with SA duo
Munster have confirmed that they are closing in on the signing of South African World Cup-winning duo Damian de Allende and RG Snyman.
As reported yesterday in the Herald, Munster are set to significantly boost their playing squad with the arrival of two world class talents in 2020.
Centre De Allende was one of the World Cup's top performers, while second row Snyman played a key role off the bench for Rassie Erasmus' men.
Speaking about the impending moves, Munster head coach Johann van Graan confirmed that the province is closing in on a blockbuster double signing.
"We are in advanced discussions with both players, but there are no contracts signed at this stage," van Graan said.
"We are confident there will be a commitment in the future, subject to conditions, but at this stage no contracts have been signed and we have nothing official to confirm."
Munster had been given permission by the IRFU to sign an international centre after former Springbok midfielder Jaco Taute left for Leicester Tigers at the end of last season and De Allende had long been ear-marked as their primary target.
Erasmus' connection with the club, as well as Van Graan having previously worked with the Boks, has played a key role in engineering both moves.
