Howard for Munster

Munster have decided to make a move for Western Province player Pat Howard on a three-month contract, writes Des Berry.

The 22 year-old former South Africa U-20 World Cup winner will have to pass the normal medical procedure before joining the province.

This comes as a reaction to injuries to three-quarter options Keith Earls and Cian Bohane and the delayed arrival of Tyler Bleyendaal due to surgery.

"We want to make sure we have a full spread available to us before we enter the next crucial period and Howard can provide that additional support," said Munster coach Anthony Foley.

Leinster and Ireland rugby international Richardt Strauss has agreed to become the official ambassador for the charity Daisyhouse which provides supported temporary accommodation for women experiencing homelessness.

South African born hooker Strauss, who lined out against the Springboks on Saturday, will represent the organisation as it seeks public support and works to raise funds for its services to vulnerable women.

"Daisyhouse doesn't just give people a hand out, but gives them a hand up, and that's what attracted me to them," said Strauss.

"It links people who have been having a difficult time to education, to training and to other services, helping them find a route to get out of homelessness ."
