Henshaw ruled out of tour

ROBBIE HENSHAW has been ruled out of Ireland’s tour to Argentina with a hand injury,

The ligament damage was
first sustained earlier in the
season.

He was able to play through
it until sadly it worsened last
week at Ireland’s two-day
training camp.

Specialist medical advice has recommended that surgery is
the best way forward for Henshaw.

This is a big setback for coach Joe Schmidt in his aim to develop two test-ready players for the outside centre.

Henshaw was about to have first shot at making Brian O’Driscoll’s number thirteen jersey his own with Jared Payne on the verge of becoming Ireland-eligible next season.

Ireland are left with one
natural thirteen - Darren Cave -
in the squad with a replacement
for Henshaw to be announced shortly.
