CUS ambush Finian's

THE dream run of St Finian's College from the Leinster Schools Development Junior Cup through the Duff Cup to the quarter-finals of the Fr Godfrey Cup was ended 27-10 by CUS at Maynooth on Tuesday.

The Mullingar boys simply couldn't cope with the concession of 17 points in as many minutes via a brace of tries by openside Stephen Russell and another from lock Daragh O'Neill.

CUS will move on to a semi-final contest with St Gerard's School, who were able to contain St Patrick's Navan with a try by full-back Mark Gallagher and penalty from centre Adam Simmonds.

In the other half of the draw, St Andrew's stumped Templeogue 30-8, centre Jordan Larmour scoring one of their three tries and kicking 10 points.

They have qualified for a tilt at High School, for whom centre Hugh Hackett poached two tries and hooker Stephen Crosby the other in a 15-3 win over Skerries Community College.
