Cronin in for injured Best

Leinster's Seán Cronin should make just his seventh start for his 36th cap for Ireland against South Africa on Saturday.

The 28 year-old hooker has been restricted to playing out an impact role for his country, mostly in behind Rory Best who has been ruled out by a slow healing calf injury at a time when Cronin has been in the form of his life.

There is a body of opinion that suggests Gordon D'Arcy has given way to his groin problem, allowing Robbie Henshaw and Jared Payne to form an unlikely alliance in the centre positions.
