Belvo and Rock set the standards
'The Big Three' are gathering.
Holders Belvedere and favourites Blackrock have already given a first glimpse of what they are capable of with impressive Senior Cup first round wins this week.
St Michael's will enter the argument against St Gerard's at Donnybrook this afternoon.
They will do well to replicate the incisive rugby shown in Belvedere's 48-7 domination of St Andrew's in the Senior Cup opener on Sunday.
The main beneficiary was wing Mark Donnelly for his hat-trick, although out-half David Hawkshaw and full-back Hugh O'Sullivan, in particular, make them hum.
They also have a superb defence in which captain Max Kearney is a leader.
Blackrock were just as good in taking The King's Hospital apart 41-3 on Monday.
Their props Joe Byrne and Giuseppe Coyne represent the blend of size and skill in an imposing pack of forwards, led by captain Cian Reilly.
They have pace to burn with centre Tom Roche providing edge and energy.
